Virtual Taste of Tlaquepaque

Springfield Sister Cities Association hosts its Taste of Tlaquepaque (tuh-lah-kay-pah-kay) event in Springfield, Mo. each year to celebrate Mexican culture and Springfield’s sister city relationship with Tlaquepaque, Mexico. The in-person party draws hundreds of people and features performers from Tlaquepaque and authentic Mexican food.
Due to COVID-19, the event will go virtual this year and present more Mexican talent than ever on Friday, October 9 from 7-9 p.m. Taste of Tlaquepaque: Concert at la Quinta features performances and live interviews with Paco Padilla Xaliscantos, Mariachi Viva Xalisco y Rubí Cervantes, Cantaros de Tlaquepaque and Grupo Canela. Joy Robertson of KOLR-TV’s Ozarks Live will emcee the event.
Purchase a streaming link for $20 and join the virtual fiesta. Round out your in-home experience with authentic food and beverage from Tortilleria Perches. Choose from tacos or tamales and add on margaritas, Perches beer or non-alcoholic horchata or jamaica. Before the event, pick up your order without getting out of your vehicle at Springfield Brewing Company’s The Cellar.
Proceeds from the event support cultural programs that promote Sister Cities’ vision of “Peace Through People.” Sponsorships start at $300 and include food, beverage and other special perks.
