Potting Shed University – Starting Your Own Kitchen Garden

The Master Gardeners of Greene County is proud to announce eight new Potting Shed University classes for 2019. All eight classes will be held on Monday evenings from 6:00pm – 7:00pm at the Botanical Center, beginning on February 4, 2019 and running through April 1, 2019. The fee for all classes is $5 per class; please pay at the door. Registration begins at 5:30pm. The February 4 session on Starting Your Own Kitchen Garden features Pat DeWitt, Advanced Master Gardener:  For new gardeners or gardeners who are starting over you will learn the basic foundations for a successful garden. Topics covered will include starting your seeds, planning and location of your garden, how to amend the soil, and how to use containers, raised beds or in ground gardening and other gardening tips. All participants will receive a handy booklet that contains all the basic information on starting a vegetable garden, a planting calendar, and useful information on challenges and benefits to growing your own food. We will also discuss ways to store and use the bounty of your harvest.  Booklet is provided through the Grow Well Missouri program, Interdisciplinary Center for Food Security, University of Missouri.
