Ozark Daylily Society Meeting and Special Program Tomorrow – Feb 11, 2012

Ozark Daylily Society February Meeting, Saturday Feb 11, 2012, 3-5 PM Botanical Center, 2400 S Scenic Rd, the PUBLIC IS INVITED. Program: “More than Ditch Lilies” by Dan and Jo Ann White, Kinder Place Gardens, Glen Carbon, Illinois.

According to the website, Kinder Place Gardens, an AHS regional tour and Display Garden, is located just 20 minutes east of the St. Louis Arch and the Mississippi River. Daylilies, perennials, shade, woodland and waterside plants are displayed in 26 garden venues on three acres carved out of Civil War Captain Jacob Kinder’s homestead. The garden is bordered by a lake on the south, woods to the west, horse farm and stables to the north, and a brick Italiante house built by Jacob Kinder to the east. Dan and Jo Ann are members of the Greater St Louis Daylily Society. The presentation will include garden highlights from all seasons, the White’s hybridizing program/system from making crosses, keeping and tracking parent data, seed collection, evaluation of seedling, to introductions past and present as well as future. Since Dan and Jo Ann are coming for Illinois and will have a very interesting program, we hope to have a large turnout of members and anyone else who enjoys gardening.

Following the meeting we will be taking our speakers out to dinner at a local restaurant. We invite those in attendance to join us for more daylily talk.
