SUMMARY:Orchid Show and Sale
DESCRIPTION:The Springfield Orchid Society is a local group of orchid lovers.  Members grow orchids on a scale as large as a thousand plants in a climate controlled 2000 sf greenhouse\, down to growers who have a few plants that thrive on window sills throughout their homes. \nOur 30th annual orchid show will be held this year on Saturday\, March 18th\, and Sunday\, March 19th\, at the Springfield Greene County Botanical Center at 2400 Scenic in Springfield. The theme for this year’s show is:  A Leprechaun’s Orchid Pot Of Gold in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.  Admission is free!  Hours of operation are 10 am to 4 pm both days.  This annual event normally draws 800 to 1000 visitors during the two days. \nOur area orchid growers will have their plants in the spectacular Springfield Orchid Society display.  Other Midwest orchid societies from NW Arkansas\, Memphis\, Kansas City and St Louis are also expected to display as well.  There will be at least 10 displays on the floor.  We should have over 350 orchid plants in bloom to view during the two day show. \nTwo commercial orchid vendors will have plants for sale to the public.  This is an excellent opportunity to pick up a unique orchid plant you can’t find at the local box or grocery store. \nThe Orchid Doctor will be there both days!  Bring in your own orchid plant that needs repotting\, debugging or just some TLC.  One of our members will be manning a table with potting supplies\, insecticides\, fertilizer\, etc.  If the plant is beyond help\, we may be able to send you home with a replacement! \nWe meet monthly on the 3rd Tuesday at 6pm at the South Side Senior Center\, 2215 South Fremont Ave in Springfield. \nQuestions?  Call or email Bob Berger.  417-235-4824. berger2035@gmail.com \nAge: All ages\nTime: Sat. and Sun.\, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.\nFee: Free admission; prices vary per plant
