Information provided by Charlotte West
Federated Garden Clubs Springfield Council

Now for some really great news. The Garden Forum is up on the FGCM website gardenclubsofmissouri.org and our perennial garden is featured in the Forum. The pictures came out beautifully. Take a look and spread the word. I can hardly wait to have the hard copy in hand. The link for The Garden Forum is here with the garden article, The Federated Garden Clubs Garden within the brand new Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center featured on pages 20 - 21: http://gardenclubsofmissouri.org/The%20Garden%20Forum%20Spring%202011.pdf

For more information please call: 417.881.7284

Our members are young and old, male and female and at all levels of learning - from the very basic to the quite advanced. We have Master Gardeners, Garden Study Critics, Lily Society Members, Botanical Society Members, Consulting Rosarians, Lily Judges, Accredited Flower Show Judges and people who are just starting. We not only learn from outstanding speakers, but also learn from each other.Cherry Court has many community projects in which we are involved.

We have done floral therapy continually in nursing homes for over 35 years (longer than any other garden club in the state of MO.) For the past 30 years Cherry Court has assisted the Ozark Empire Fair and enables it to have an Accredited Federated Flower Show.

For the past 57 years our garden club has either chaired or participated in the Springfield Garden Council’s Annual Flower Show. This year the judges scored the show high enough that we have applied for a state Award.

We have four members on the State Board of the Fed. Garden Clubs of MO (FGCM) One of our members is the State Chairman of the Springfield Greene Co. Botanical Center.

We designate “Yard of the Month” during the growing season to encourage the public to take pride in their environment.

Two of our members were invited to do the design program for the State Convention Of Arkansas Federated. Garden Clubs earlier this year.

We are having a workshop this year in making hypertufa planters and offer programs in floral design and horticulture. One of our speakers this spring is from the Audubon Society. We are having a program on trees, landscaping, carnivorous plants - taking tours, having plant sales AND DOING MUCH MORE!

57th Annual Standard Flower Show

Sunday, 23 January 2011 19:02 Written by Administrator

The 57th Annual Standard Flower Show was held in September of 2010 at the Library Center in Springfield, MO. This past year's show was brought to you by these four garden clubs, all part of the Springfield Council of Federated Garden Clubs:

View a Video Slide Show of the 2010 Show
Produced by Hiltrud "Sam" Webber

  1. Brentwood Garden Club
  2. Cherry Court Garden Club
  3. Ever Green Garden Club
  4. Hillbilly Gardeners Garden Club

The four individual clubs work together on community projects as the Springfield Council of Federated Garden Clubs and come together annually to put on one large flower show for the entire area to enjoy.

There were educational tables, almost fifty designs and a large number of horticulture specimens. Several of the horticulture specimens you might have recognized as things that your grandmother used to grow. Plus there were several brand new things that have just been introduced to the market in the past year or so.

The show was judged by accredited judges and they evaluated the flower show high enough to give it a rating (higher than 95%) so the group can apply for a top state award.
