The first annual Greater Ozarks Butterfly Festival was well received by folks and plans are already underway to expand and improve what will be offered for 2010. The Friends of the Garden working in conjunction with the Springfield Greene County Parks Department, Missouri Master Naturalist, Master Gardeners of Greene County, and many others will again make available the opportunity to see the full life cycle of our native butterflies and moths.
Join us on June 26th for "Bluegrass and Blossoms" a free music festival offered by the Friends of the Garden. This gathering allows the public to come enjoy the gardens along with Bluegrass Music in the shade of a walnut grove beside Lake Drummond on a Saturday afternoon. Kenny Knauer has been the coordinator of this festival since the start and is working to again entertain us with an afternoon of music among friends. Stay tuned for further developments!
It is unofficial but rumor has it that there will be a week long "GRAND OPENING" when the new Botanical Center Building will be unveiled to the public. Construction on the building is underway and scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2010.
