The White Garden was inspired by a visit to Sissinghurst Castle Garden in England . It features many varieties of blooming flowers, shrubs, and trees. Particularly showy are the snow white fountain weeping cherry and white hydrangea trees. All plantings are white, with the exception of the Clair Martin pink roses on the arbor, which are a tribute to Ann Close, who loved pink. Mrs. Close established a trust, which continues to help fund the gardens at Close Park . On either side of the arbor are wild spice roses. The memorial brick walk under the arbor leads you to the James Hall sculptor of Major Close, whose kneeling position will be familiar to many park visitors. Memorial bricks for the walk are a special way to honor someone...and are available for $ 50. Information is on a sign near the entrance to the White Garden.
